Another to add to Tonymiks list is The City Market just off 61st Ave N (almost next to the Food Lion)..Great Breakfast thru early dinner options...HUGE portions and really great! I%26#39;d also add Liberty Tap Room and Grill, Villa Romana, Three Pigs, and Mrs Fish.
Please read my forum ';A locals recom for any type of food';. Should give you some ideas.
y%26#39;know, anybob, that thread, while very informative, has become tediously long %26amp; takes a lot of clicks %26amp; scrolls to get to the end. Why not stop bumping it %26amp; start a new one...you can condense %26amp; summarize the info, but not in the opening paragraph (so you don%26#39;t have a real long diatribe repeating on every page).
MplsChance: Looks like you%26#39;re leaving soon...my advice is to check the coupons (plenty of hand-out type publications but the local paper has the best ones). Just read the fine print (some places add a 15 to 18% tip on the FULL price, even at buffets! I%26#39;m trying to understand why staff who does not take your order or bring your food deserves an 18% tip??)
daddio...guess I never really understood that either, But I do know that at a few of the buffets, the servers do bring drinks, keep your glasses full, clear your dirty plates, and bring you fresh plates if you need to refill...and most do this for less than $3 per hour...so they are doing something to contribute to your dining experience. As for a restaurant adding a gratuity to the full price of the meal (before a coupon) I think it is only fair to the server...afterall they are serving 2 dinners...right?
I agree that if you are looking for coupons, the Sun News (local paper) has the best ones, especially this time of year...most of the restaurants that have the coupons you find on the brochure racks wouldn%26#39;t be in my list of ';must eats';.
Point well taken (RE tips).
My wife %26amp; I are not cheapos, %26amp; I always try to leave what I feel is a fair tip, I just have a problem with ';added gratuities';, especially at a buffet.
Yes, some establishments choose not to let you help yourself to plates or drinks, so servers have duties in addition to bussing your table, but if this level of service deserves a 15 to 18% tip then I suppose you are ';stiffing'; the wait staff at a sit-and-order restaurant if you don%26#39;t leave 25 to 30%.
I guess I never understood the percentage thing anyway. If it takes as much time to bring me a filet mignon as it does to serve me a bologna sandwich, why should the tip be ten times as much?
A tip, IMO, should be at your discretion, based on the quality of service %26amp; how much was required. When they add a set ';gratuity';, its no longer a tip because you have no choice in the matter. And, as every waiter knows, some people don%26#39;t realize the tip has been added and leave another tip. Do they run after you to explain?
PS: The Original Benjamin%26#39;s coupons all have added gratuities, Crabby Mike%26#39;s coupons do not.
Hi - I own a second home down in MB so I am there very often. If you want good Italian food, try Benny Rappa%26#39;s. It is a small restaurant, a bring your own bottle, and the prices are very good. You will need to make reservations...hard to get in without them. Benny Rappa%26#39;s is located on 17 in North Myrtle Beach. Another favorite of mine is the Carolina Roadhouse....located on 17 Business. Great steaks/burgers and big portions. Enjoy your trip. I am jealous...I wish I were going this weekend!
