Construction??

My husband and I are planning a vacation to MB May 21-26. We want affordable and clean accommodations and Dayton House seems to be right for us. However, we do not want to be around a lot of construction and see cranes everywhere (which we%26#39;ve heard there are lots of b/c a lot of hotels are renovating or rebuilding). Is there a lot of construction going on in this area (will there be in May)? We are also thinking about the Avista Resort in North MB. Would this be a better choice for us? Also, a lot of hotels are offering a discount during this particular week. Is it a good time to visit MB or is there a reason for the discount?

Construction??

Dreamer:

I%26#39;m just back from MB %26amp; yes, there are a lot of active cranes %26amp; hard hat construction zones...talked to more than a few upset hotel guests who had ';construction view'; rooms. I have no clue what the situation will be in May; you need to contact the resort you are considering booking with %26amp; get some honest answers.

Good luck.

Construction??

In May...no cranes..lets see, I can say where not to stay that would be around the 50th ave north area (that would be Southwinds) its a mess, a probably will be most of the summer --- too bad, its a fantastic property! Not alot of construction in the 69th to 79th Ave N area...a bit across the street about 75th (where the Aloha used to be)probably Crane free at the Monteray Bay Suites, Caravelle...

Going south..Not alot of construction between 15th ave N and 26th Ave N (Dayton house is in that area)...I%26#39;d stay away from anything south of 19th Ave S...a good bit of construction that way. Not sure about up around Avista...but there is quite a bit of building going on everywhere...and like the previous poster said...best to call the resort and inquire.

As far as the dates you are planning on...you are pretty much right in between 2 bike weeks (Harley Fest and Atlantic Beach Bike Fest) so you may have to deal a bit (but not much) with both groups. Could be hotels just trying to fill between those dates with the discounted rates, that not that unusual...have a good time! :)

I know that our local place to stay Sandy Beach Resort is having construction actully they torn down the part we always stayed at now they are expanding so now we gotta find a nice resonable place to stay not no high rise place like they are adding. Any one have any suggestion to a nice place to stay?
