Sea Island on the Beach

Does anyone know anything about this new resort?

Sea Island on the Beach

You may already have this, but their website is www.seaislandonthebeach.com. I know they%26#39;re supposed to open May 1 and that some of their units (don%26#39;t know how many) are privately owned, but not all. From all accounts, it looks and sounds like a beautiful place with nice-sized and well-appointed units, although not inexpensive. Depending on what type of accommodations you need, their website offers specials, although they appear to apply only to their 1 bedroom unit with 2 full beds. All the units are furnished and decorated by the resort, even though there are some private owners. We%26#39;re planning a trip to MB this summer and currently have reservations at Kingston Plantation, but in a condo that%26#39;s not oceanfront. I%26#39;d really love to book at the Sea Island, but I%26#39;m waiting to see if some of the private owners list their condos because it%26#39;s usually less expensive than booking through the resort. So far, I haven%26#39;t seen really anything. If you obtain additional or different information, please post it as I am also interested in learning what I can about the Sea Island. Thanks!

The Sea Island will open in May afer going thru a total rebuild. They have been a resort in Myrtle Beach for a number of years (one of the older properties here) located near where the old Ocean Forest Resort used to be (torn down in the late 70%26#39;s). Its in an area we call the ';cabana'; section of Myrtle Beach -- because of the numerous little cabin like structures that dot the beach side of Ocean Blvd in this 5 block long area.

Ditto on all of the above post. I haven%26#39;t heard yet if the privately owned condos need to utilize the hotel management rental system or if they can rent on their own. I know at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes(another luxury property opening in August)will also have privately owned condos that can either be put into the hotel system or they can rent on their own....but if they owner decides to rent on their own, they cannot use the name ';Marina Inn';. So not sure if this may also be the case at Sea Island.

All that said, I think it will be a great ';new/old'; addition to the beach front...their European style of operation is somewhat unique in this area...the staff were wonderful before the renov. and I%26#39;m sure they wont be anything less than excellent when they reopen. The restaurant is amazing! The building is beautiful, the colors are awseome, and the beach in that area is one of the better ones in the area!

Have a great time! I%26#39;ll keep you posted if I find out anything more! :)
