Shore Drive Area

Hello My husband and I are planning a trip to MB in July. We would like to stay in the shore drive area. Any suggestions on where to stay? We found a great room at Sands Beach club. But the reviews on here are terrible and now I am scared. Help!

Thanks!

Shore Drive Area

For the Shore Drive area I%26#39;d take a look at some of the condos in that area. Most of the Hotel/Resorts really havent kept up their properties, but there are a number of nice condos. Say maybe Maisons-Sur-Mer (really nice!), or try Pelicans Landing or A Place at the Beach. Most of these can be found on www.vrbo.com, or for Maisons its www.maisonssurmer.com

Hope this helps! Good Luck! :)

Maissons is the best in that area.Call Sloan Realty and ask for Esther Shimwell, shes a friend of mine and rents out a unit there which she owns.

Also keep in mind that the Shore Drive area can be a headache getting in from and out to rte 17 in July. Theres two outlet roads. One emties out to 17 at Walmart and Tanger outlet and the other at Galleria Shopping Center. Imuch more prefer the area of Myrtle Beach between 50th and 79th. Some hotels there are Long Bay, Forest Dunes,Grande Shores and Caravelle.Very easy to travel in and out of this area and more room on the beach.I%26#39;ve seen some of the units at the Sands and they were a bit worn down.

Is Kingston Plantation considered part of the ';Shore Drive area'; and hard to get out of during peak season (July)?

Kingston isnt really part of the Shore Drive area, its more in the Windy Hill section...but still has only those few outlet roads...and at times, it can be a bit hectic, especially on rainy days! You may want to check out the maps at a couple of these websites:

Hope this helps! :)

the shore drive area is kind of run down. the beach is not as nice as other areas.

The Shoredrive area in the summer can be a bit hectic, but it can be a lot of fun as well!! It depends on what you like to do.

I tends to be a bit of a party place with Ocean Annies being in the middle (annies is a beach bar connected to the Sands Ocean club)Also you have the Sand Bar up the road. If you like to dance and have cocktails then shore drive area is a blast!! I advise bringing the kids elsewere though.

Also the sands Ocean club and beach club have just went under new management and are undergoing some nice upgrades.

With all respect, I would never classify Shore Drive as run down or having a problem with bring kids to the area because of Ocean Annies. Shore Drive is a pretty fair stretch of beach in reference to length and we have brought our kids to this area all of their lives and never had a problem with those ';party'; areas. You just don%26#39;t go there if you don%26#39;t want too. There is alot of people that really enjoy that type of atmosphere when they are on vacation. You also have a pier within walking distance plus it%26#39;s very quiet along the beach, much better than downtown. Sorry, it%26#39;s a great location for kids.
