Bermuda Sands

Help! We have planned our first family vacation in 10yrs for next week. At the recommendation of a very good friend, we booked the Bermuda Sands. Reading the reviews now, however, has me very scared. Is it really that filthy with bugs? After driving 14hrs with two kids, I do *not want to be disgusted. I know this is not necessarily a ';review'; site but I need opinions from anyone at this point, we%26#39;re leaving Sunday..

Bermuda Sands

The Bermuda Sands did a bit of renovation maybe back in 2003. The outside looks decent, but not sure on how much remodeling they did on the rooms (lobby is nice). It is an older property with not as many bells and whistles as some other options. With it being older, and some of the reviews on this site, you may want to reconsider, especially after driving that length of time. We used to stay at a small property for a number of years before we moved to the beach, it was one of the oldest on the beach, and I cant remember it having bugs, but it wouldn%26#39;t have been everyone%26#39;s cup of tea either...but the staff made the place. So that be why the friend gave you the recommendation.

If you are leaving this Sunday, and if you arent ';locked into'; your stay at the Bermuda...maybe spend your first night there and see...you may be fine. If not, it will give you a chance to check out the area, and possibly relocate to another property if need be. Other option would be to check out some of the reviews of other properties to the right...some that are in the general area that Bermuda Sands is are the Holiday Inn Oceanfront, Tropical Winds, Coral Beach isnt real far from there...just to name a few.

Hope this helps! :)

Bermuda Sands

Thank you for your suggestions. We decided to change hotels and it looks to be so much better. We lost $35 because of booking time but hey, I can%26#39;t sleep with cockroaches either! Now...the drive ;) Again, thanks for your help/suggestions.

Where did you book this time?

We ended up staying at the Tropical Winds.

what was your opinion of the Tropical winds? we are planning a trip in July and that is the place I think I have finally settled on!!! we have 3 children so we need something bigger than just a room, and we definetly want ocean front. I appreicate any comments about the place!!

I posted a review under Tropical Winds if you want to search that. In summary, we liked it. It%26#39;s not some 5 star hotel but for a family that won%26#39;t spend a ton of time in the actual room, it was fine.
