We are a family of five... three kids: 12, 13 and 15. We%26#39;re driving from IL to Myrtle Beach. Where should we stay? We%26#39;d like to be on the beach... help.
Family Vacation
You have a number of options here at the beach! You may want to check out some of the various reviews of different hotels listed to the left here on this forum. It really depends on what your family likes to do. Some families prefer places that have a number of amenities on site for the kids to enjoy, i.e., lazy rivers, arcades, indoor and outdoor pools, kids activity programs, etc...while others dont really care to have all that and just want a ';place on the beach';. Coral Beach Resort is someplace you may want to take a look at (has all the bells and whistles), as well as Ocean Dunes or Sand Dunes (they have a great waterpark for the kids) I really like the area between 50th Ave N and 82nd Ave N -- the beach in this area is fantastic...nice and wide...and the area between 63rd to 67th is a surf zone area, so if the kids want to rent a surf board and have a few lessons, you can do it right there! Or, even to jsut watch some of the surfers is alot of fun! The Sand and Ocean Dunes are in this area, as well as Grande Shores, Moteray Bay (they have a great breakfast buffet and evening dessert buffet thats included in the room rate!) Ocean Reef or the Mariott Grande Dunes.
Another nice property is the Hampton Inn Oceanfront. You may want to check out a great map of the area at
www.golymo.com (click on maps/schedules)
With the ages of your kids you%26#39;ll have alot to do to keep everybody busy! Its such a great area for a family vacation! Another good website is
www.strandmagazine.com
it lists a number of attractions/entertainment and shopping options. Have a great time! :)
Family Vacation
I would have to say Coral Beach resort. We have all ways stayed there with 2 13 year olds and they stasyed occupied the whole time.
A 2 bedroom suite at the Hampton Inn Oceanfront would be perfect for your family and the rooms are very clean with beautiful decor.
