we have narrowed our search of hotels down to Baywatch, Forest dunes, and Beach colony. Does anyone have any information to help us make a decision about these hotels.
Hotel decision
From my research, I%26#39;ve learned that Forest Dunes offers units that are individually owned, each with different ratings (A, B,orC)depending on the condition, decor, unit amenities, etc. All reviews/postings that I have read strongly suggest that you specifically request an A-rated unit and be sure to ask spefically what is and is not included with your reservations.
We%26#39;re going to MB in July, and some in our large group will be staying at the Forest Dunes, but it received mixed reviews from those who stayed there 4 years ago. Apparently, some of it has been renovated though. We will be staying nearby at the brand new Sea Island on the Beach for a comparable price available with their SPECIALS options.
Sorry, I don%26#39;t know much at all about the other two places you mentioned. Read the reviews from the list at left. Good luck and enjoy your trip!
Hotel decision
My vote goes to Forest Dunes. Some of the views in certain BeachColony units may have been blocked by new construction on each side whereas F.D.has some of the best views to be found on the Grand Strand, starting on the 6th floor on up.
The area leading up to Baywatch from Hghy.17 leaves a lot to be desired. The area around F.D. real nice residential neighborhood, great to walk or jog thru.
Baywatch is close to Barefoot Landing and that section of 17 is full of traffic lights.Forest Dunes is 8 miles to Barefoot, 4 miles to Broadway At The Beach, 16 miles to Murrells Inlet and 1 mile to Pine Lakes golf course.
From F.D. its very easy to reach 17,Grissom Parkway,Rte 31 and 17 bypass.
Ditto to the above posts. The only thing I wanted to add was about the construction around Beach Colony. Its not only beside, behind and in front of them...they are doing a pretty good bit of construction on their building too. Out of the 3 you have listed, I would go for Forest Dunes. Have fun! :)
