Is there still construction by the Yachtsmann and Pier14 ??

Thinking of booking at the Yachtsmann and do not like the reviews from last summer.

There is still a bit of construction there at the Yachtsman...its all part of the stormwater runoff project that this area is really in desperate need of. Once its done it will keep our beaches cleaner and safer for all of us! They say they hope to wrap things up before season...but ----- still alot of construction traffic right there on the beach front near the pier....

MBconcierge, Thanks for the fast reply. We are planning on coming to MB for a golf weekend Ap.27th- May 2. There will be three adult couples. We are wondering where we should stay. My wife and I stayed at the Yachtman in 04 and were happy with it. With the construction going on we are having second thoughts. We would like to stay close to the action (we think) maybe walking distance to some bars and night life. Or nightlife at a certain hotel? Not to geared for the family with kids.

As far as I know the Yachtsman is under renovation after being bought by Bluegreen and will re-open as the Seaglass Tower this summer, probably not in time for your trip....

You may want to try a few of the properties close by the Yachtsman if you liked that area..not any beach construction near the Camelot or the Breakers, or even the Carolinian Best Western. These properties would be near the downtown area, but closer to the 21st Ave area (straight shot down 21st to get to Broadway at the Beach). Next door to Camelot you have a great little bar/restaurant called Bummz Beach Cafe --- always has outdoor entertainment, and just up the street on 21st you have SoHo for sushi (and late nite), River City, Dirty Don%26#39;s (great oysters!)and Studebakers right around the corner (great bagel place next door to Studebakers)..and just up the road a few blocks on 26th Ave N is The Flying Fish (where the old Dead Dog Saloon used to be) great food ---awesome fish tacos! -- and entertainment on the outdoor deck!

The Sheraton at the Convention Center isnt a bad location either --- nice rooms, great staff..and they split the difference between the beachfront and Broadway at the Beach. (and if you check with the bellstaff, you can get transportation to and from Broadway and to the beach!)

If you want to venture away from that area..you may want to look at some of the hotels in the 50th Ave N to 82nd Ave N area...still alot to do in that area, a number of great restaurants and late nite spots...close to the Dunes Club, Grande Dunes, Myrtlewood and Pine Lakes. Some places in that area are Grande Shores, Monteray Bay (they include a breakfast buffet and a pm Dessert Buffet in the room price!)Forest Dunes, or Caravelle. I would suggest Southwind Villas but some beachfront construction there right now too.....

Hope all this helps! Have a great time! The golf courses have really been busy already this year! :)
