Family From Ireland visiting Myrtle Beach

My family will be visiting Myrtle Beach March 11 to March 26. We live in Ireland. A man here in Dublin said he lived in Myrtle Beach for three months and that there are some dodgy areas that we should not stay in.

I apologize for the comment but that is what he said. But he was not able to tell us where the dodgy areas are.

We have our plane tickets and are now looking to rent a nice 2 bedroom condo that is modern, clean and oceanfront and in a good area. To be honest from most of the photos I have seen on this site the whole place looks nice to me, but can anyone tell us areas we should avoid renting in Myrtle Beach?

Also what%26#39;s the best golf course in Myrtle Beach? My family are golfers.

Thank you very much for any responses.

Basically - you should go north of Myrtle Beach and the properties will be nicer. South you have Garden City, Surfside and Litchfield - they are nice areas. North Myrtle( Windy Hill, Ocean Drive, Crescent, Cherry Grove) has lots of hotels...but there are some condo units that are ocean front. I would say stay out of Myrtle Beach proper for lodging - go there for entertainment. Best wishes.

I agree with the above post. The central or main Myrtle Beach area is the least attractive.

There are soooooo many courses in MB that it would be hard to say which is the best. Some are much harder than the others. I think there are over 100 courses. Do a Google search for Myrtle Beach SC golf courses and eliminate those that you think are unsuitable. Pick one that is close to where you will be staying. They are spread out over a WIDE area and the travel time may be a problem.

Some of my favorite courses (I%26#39;ve played all but 10-15)...

Barefoot Resort, True Blue, Grand Dunes, Caledonia, Tidewater, Legends, Angels Trace, Wild Wing, Pearl, Heritage Club,Angels Trace, Oyster Bay, Sandpiper Bay, TPC, Sea Trail...

Thank you all so very much for your wonderful responses. They are very much appreciated.

My goodness you must love Golf as much as my husband to have played so many courses. Have you played the World Golf course there in Myrtle Beach. We saw it on the web and wondered if it was a good course.

Go to www.vrbo.com to find some great condos. The time of year that you are going is very nice and you should have no problem finding a condo. I would highly recommend that you do NOT stay within a 10 block area of the Pavillion. It can be crowded and noisy in this area. Maybe stay anywhere from 53 Ave and up to 79th Ave North. And yes, the Windy Hill, Cresent Beach, Cherry Grove areas are nice too.

Have fun golfing. I don%26#39;t know of any to recommend, but there are so many, you can go wrong.

It%26#39;s one of the nicer courses too Paintednails. I played it in November. It has holes that mimic 18 of the most popular holes in golf (from different courses). I expect it would be even prettier during the spring and summer. He should play it.

They have 27 holes, so he may want to plan 27 for that day.

Suggest Elliott Realty for both your condo rental and golf packages. They are considered experts in both. They focus primarily in North Myrlte Beach.

Great advice from all. Thank you so much.

We actually called Elliott Realty last night and have booked a beautiful 4 bedroom condo at Laguna Keyes. The women that helped us at Elliott Realty was named Grace and she was very helpful and nice. I am very excited to visit.

Everyone that answered my post has been so helpful and kind. If you ever need any advice on Dublin Ireland send me a note and I will help you as best I can.

Cheers!

Now if only some lad or lassie could suggest a pub that will make you feel at home...
