Visiting Charleston in June for 2 nights for 5th anniversary (on our way to Hilton Head) and our first choice in hotel is the Renaissance but it is not available. I didn%26#39;t book it early enough and now know there is a festival in town. Any suggestions for other hotels? Sort of narrowed it down now to the Francis Marion, the Harbourview Inn, %26amp; the Holiday Inn. Like the idea of the day spa at the Francis Marion too.
Would like to be near historic area, close to everything, with a view. Looking for a nice room for the money within walking distance to shops/restaurants and nightlife.
Thanks for any help!
Steve
Help with hotel choice
The festival is the 29th annual Spoleto USA Festival and it runs from May 26 - June 11. During this time, hotel rooms (esp. in the downtown area) will be at a premium. If you can get a room at the Harbourview Inn, go for it!! Next choice would be Francis Marion and then Holiday Inn. Most of the hotels will have minimum length of stays during this time esp. on the weekends.
If you are able to find a room, in addition to checking out all the historic sites, you may want to check out some of Spoleto (www.spoletousa.org) which has national and international performers or Piccolo Spoleto (www.piccolospoleto.com) which features local and regional performers...the site still needs to be updated for 2006 Season so check it out before you come to town. Piccolo has many free or less expensive events than Spoleto.
Enjoy your visit!

Nice, in the Historic district and a view! That would have to be the HarbourView Inn. If they have the room for when you are coming into town then go for it, you will not be disappointed.
The Vendue Inn is in the same area. Their rates include a full breakfast, guest reception, cookies and milk, and turndown. 2 blocks from the market and near all the fun. 1-800-845-7900 Enjoy your stay.
