?? re: Home & Garden Tour - what are the ';must dos'; of the...

Greetings - My sister %26amp; I will be visiting from the afternoon of 3/31 until Sun. evening - 4/2. We%26#39;re considering a carriage tour first as an overview of Charleston,(please offer recommendations...) and also would like to scheduled at least 1 ';pricy'; H%26amp;G tour, maybe 2. What tours are best for $$ and what other options are available for tours that are less expensive.

Additionally, we%26#39;re staying in the Hist. Disct ( Holiday Inn ), and I read in other forums that a car may be necessary. Is this area of H.D. w/in walking distance to many sites? Will we need a car b/c of the weekend and limited avail. w/ taxis?

Lastly, of course, SHOPPING! Looking for local crafts, artwork, antiques, etc. Where is the best shopping area(s) so that we can maximize our time?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Wow- you are going to have a great fun filled weekend. For a carriage ride any of the companies will give you a good tour of the city. You and your sister will want to walk up to the Visitors Center or stop there first to pick up your tickets for the carriage rides. We sell discount tickets for all of the tour companies.

I don%26#39;t think that you need a car if you stay at the Holiday Inn historic. The hotel is about 6 blocks from the market and about 1.5 miles from the Battery. And if you want to visit anything out of the city, we have tours that go just about anywhere or you can use the public transportation.

The Festival of Houses %26amp; Gardens is wonderful. I think any of the tours that you sign up for is going to be enjoyable.

For your shopping you are going to have high end shops and boutiques on King Street and Antiques and art galleries on lower King Street. For local crafts such as picking up one of the sweetgrass baskets, you want to do a stroll through the city market.

Thanks, O%26#39;Meila - I appreciate your suggestions.

We%26#39;ll hit the Welcome Center on arrival... what are your hours during the week %26amp; weekend? Do you have a direct web site for the WC and/or phone # so that I can have info mailed to me in advance?

Lastly, does the WC offer discount tix for the tours, or just carriage rides?

Many thanks!
