We ahve about 12 or so men meeting down in MB for a weekend in the end of April/beginning of May. Few questions.
1) Thinking about renting a house or condo. Or a few houses or condos, depending on availability and number of rooms. Any advice. (For some reason I ave difficulty searching the forums here.)
2) Interested in going on a fishing trip on Saturday. The words ';deep sea'; have been used. Anyone know of of good way to do this?
3) Interested in playing golf on Sunday. What is the best way to facilitate this. Some of us are players and some are hackers, low cost and group friendly is what we are aiming for, as opposed to a slope rating that would ';challenge'; a low handicapper.
Any advice is appreciated.
Dozen men going in end of April - Need advice
Golf= Very hacker friendly is The Wizzard off 501. Heathland, also off of 501 is friendly to hackers also.

for houses or condos go to www.vrbo.com Lots of great options.
Ok..lets do it by the numbers!
1. Renting a house (or condo) is a great idea..especially for a large group! Check out www.vrbo.com, www.booerealty.com or www.elliottrealty.com...number of options there (you may try www.myrtlebeachtrips.com for golf villa accomodations and golf!)
2. You can book a ';deep sea'; fishing trip a few ways. I would highly suggest The Hurricane Fleet (www.hurricanefleet.com). Options there would be to go out on the head boat (large groups, sometimes up to 60 people) or rent your own charter boat (and with that many of you to split the cost, that may be a better option!) I went out last year for the gulfstream all day and had a blast! Caught quite a bit of fish too! And they will clean and pack in ice for a nominal fee! Great crew...ask for George White or Steve Speros (never hurts to name drop!)
3. I%26#39;d try www.myrtlebeachtrips.com ask for Lee. He%26#39;s got alot of golf knowledge and should be able to help you out. I would look at Myrtlewood (2 courses there) or Pine Lakes (oldest course in MB --- Sports Illustrated was started there!)
Hope all this helps! You guys will have a great time! :)
Elliott Realty (in my opinion) has the biggest and best selection of condos and/or houses. That time of year, should be plenty available that will accomodate your needs. In addition, they have a dept. dedicated solely to golf packages/outings, etc. Give them a call or check their email.
Great advice, looks like we will be set. Saw some huge houses on Elliot (haven%26#39;t checked the others yet) looks like I asked the right people.
Query: We are a group of men. Age range from late 20s to early 40s. All with respectable jobs etc. The rental site says ';we rent to families and responsible adults...no house parties.'; While personally I think we are responsible adults, and we are not planning on throwing a ';house party';, this is not going to be a church retreat by any means. A dozen men who are looking to fish, play golf and have a few laughs might fit anyone%26#39;s deinfition of anything.... Are we going to run into rental trouble?
You shouldn%26#39;t have any issues w/ this. Many of the Spring and Fall rentals are for exactly what you are doing. I think they are referring more specifically to %26#39;Spring Break%26#39;, %26#39;Bachelor%26#39; type parties. Enjoy, that%26#39;s a great time of year to go to the Grand Strand.
I agree with NCGator. I have known a number of golf groups coming down to the beach to do exactly what you are planning and havent had any problems with going thru Elliott or Booe. Some of the houses that Elliott has are fantastic! April and May are both great times here at the beach. And the golf courses are BUSY! You all will have a great time! Sunny and warm here today (finally!) looking to be in the low 70%26#39;s for the weekend! :)
1) Rent a house that has 12 beds. Around $900 for the weekend would only be $75 each.
2) I%26#39;d recommend either...
hurricanefleet.com at 910-579-3660 out of Calabash, NC or
oifishingcenter.com at 910-575-FISH
I%26#39;ve fished both and fished in several tourneys that Capt. Brant was in,
If you%26#39;re bottom fishing you could rent 1 large boat for everyone; if you%26#39;re trolling, 3 or 4 smaller boats would be better.
3. 1 day of golf with what you%26#39;ve explained....Play Sandpiper Bay off Sunset Beach. This course in my opinion best fits your needs. The good golfers will like it and the not so good won%26#39;t hate it. I%26#39;ve played them all.
A house near the Cherry Grove or Ocean Drive section of North Myrtle would fit nicely for the above plan.
You should not have any rental problems. Take care of the place and straighten up a little early Sun. morning and if something accidently breaks and you rent through a realty company, you probably are purchasing ~$1,000 of insurance. Tell the realtor if something happens and check the place over when you 1st arrive to make sure it doesn%26#39;t already have a problem.
