Close to 410 S Ocean Blvd ... but 5 star

My family (children ages 1,12,14,15) will be joining friends at Myrtle Beach this April. Our friends are staying in a timeshare at 410 S Ocean Blvd. We would like to be as close as possible but need three room suite, indoor pool and like excellent quality. We have never visited MB but have looked at several sites online. We are considering Hampton Inn 18S, Southwind 53N, and Kingstown Plantation but are open to suggestions. Ocean Creek Resort had availability too. What would your recommendation be in order to be close to our friends but still enjoy the goodlife (with kids)?

Go with Hampton Inn Oceanfront.

The 3 places you are considering are all great choices, but if you want to be close to your friends I%26#39;d go with the Hampton (check out the reviews to the left) Its a great place, clean, spacious rooms, and the staff are top notch (they really make this place shine!). The Southwind is less than a year old, and it is beautiful, that would probably be my next choice (I love the beach in this area!) Myrle Beach is a great place for a family vacation! You all will have a great time! :)

Hi,

we are currently staying at the Bay watch resort in a three-room condo (one bedroom with two beds, a galley kitchen and a living room, which also has a murphy bed that folds out. This resort is in North Myrtle Beach, but when we got here we checked out all kinds of places around Myrtle Beach and were really quite disappointed about the quality in rooms. My husband and I agreed that there really is no place that we saw that would warrant a 5 star rating, and when I checked out the popular travel search engines, they appeared to agree, as neither expedia or travelocity seem to offer a 5* hotel here.

We were looking mostly at condos as we wanted the extra room as we are staying here for a month, and as we require a kitchen. I looked at the Ocean Creek, where the suites in the tower were nice, but the indoor portion of the pool extremely small, and the suites in the other buildings older with only one older, not so nice and clean, indoor pool, plus inconvenient to walk outside to pool.

We looked at Kingston Plantation which was supposed to be a 4*, but we were extremely disapppointed with the quality of the room. The condo w looked in was in one of the lowrise areas, and was old, dirty and did not even have a bathtub, just a cheap walk-in shower. We did not look at suites at the Embassy Suites, as we felt that the whole resort is so overpoweringly large and spread out. I have to say that I was really glad that we did not reserve anything before we came here, but checked the places out physically first - though I know that is not really practical for most people.

From an area perspective, definitely the area around shore drive is the nicest.

We are quite happy with our condo at the Bay Watch resort, as it has three indoor pools and lazy river, all of which is is excellent near new condition and very clean - which is more than I can say about most of the other pools I looked at, but I really would have preferred the area around Shore Dr as it is nicer than North Myrtle which is a little drab and commercialized, not so much on the hotel/condo strip, but along 17 where we do the shopping etc, and I am not sure how we would like the resort when it is fully booked, could get crowded - it is a large resort, but then again, so are most of the other places. At least everything is in one area, you don;t have to walk so far to the pool etc. I hope that helps, if only so that you are not disappointed in whatever you book. Frankly, I would find the best indoor pool, layout and price and go for that, as really none of them are spectacular.
