Moving to Bluffton?

Contemplating buying a building lot in Bluffton, and moving in about 5 years when kids are in college. What are the pros and cons of living there? Note: We would be transplanting from the NY Metropolitan area.

How safe is it? How friendly is it towards NYers? I heard that the area right outside Beaufort is very anti social...ie. towards people from upper-income families. etc. Any thoughts would be great.

The real question for you is going to be, ';how friendly are you to southeners?'; Not the other way around.

Too often the NYers, and others, act as if they are doing the locals a big favor by moving into their community. And the locals, understandably react. They become, in your words, anti-social.

You want friendly, then act that way. Forget you are an ';upper-income'; family. There are quite a few people there that could probably buy and sell you, but you%26#39;ll never know it by their behavior.

Have you spent some time in Bluffton? It is still basically a small town that happens to be between Savannah and Hilton Head. It%26#39;s growing rapidly and most of it is brand new. It%26#39;s not on the ocean and riverfront property is hard to find. It looks as if it%26#39;s future is going to be a suburb of Hilton Head with all of the traffic and tax problems and none of the advantages.
