Help please!

After searching for the right choice I am left with Southwinds -5310 North Ocean Blvd, Sands Beach Club 9400 Shore Dr, Ocean Creek on North King%26#39;s Hwy or Bay Watch 2701 S. Ocean Blvd. Now I haven%26#39;t been to MB in years and am having a really hard time determining where each hotel is and which one is best for us. We want to be able to walk to most things we will have a car but like to walk to shops and dinner etc as long as the weather is good. Now I have tried to use the bus maps to figure it out and that got me more mixed up because I thought Bay Watch was in North MB but it seems further south then others?! Which ones are closest to the Pavilion area... I think that is the main area or am I even wrong about that?

Can anyone help me???

Help please!

It is confusing! Especially with both North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach using numbers to name their avenues! Yikes!

You were correct in thinking that Bay Watch is in NMB. Their address is 2701 S. Ocean Blvd, NORTH Myrtle Beach. Wish I could draw a map on this site, but lets start with the hotel that%26#39;s the farthest away from the Pavilion area in Myrtle Beach.

The farthest (most northern) is Bay Watch, which would be just a bit north of the Barefoot Landing area (shopping, dining %26amp; entertainment area). Next property heading south would be almost a tie --- Sands Beach Club %26amp; Ocean Creek -- only difference is that you enter the Ocean Creek property off Kings Hwy (Rt 17) and the Sands is right there at the ocean. Both almost equal in distance to Barefoot Landing (Ocean Creek is directly across the street from there).

Out of the resorts mentioned, Southwind would be your closest to the Pavilion area.

The Pavilion area is also known as the ';Strip'; or ';Blvd'; area. Alot of beachwear shops, arcades, ice cream and snack shops and of course the amusement park. It is a pretty busy area and is located in the center of MB. Southwind would be about 3 to 4 miles to the heart of that area. It is a walkable distance but mostly thru a residential area. The bus does have a route that runs the full length of the blvd and also over to Broadway at the Beach (just off 21st Ave N).

The area around the Sands also has a number of shops, and Barefoot Landing isnt that far away or even Ocean Creek being right across the street from Barefoot Landing may be a good option for you.

Did you check out the Strand Magazine website? Not sure if their map may be clearer or not...hope some of this helps! :)

Help please!

Thanks MBConcierge!

I am thinking of Southwinds but there doesn%26#39;t seem to be any reviews for them or Ocean creek. Can you recommend either or have you heard any feedback, since you seem to be the expert around there?!

Thanks for all your help!

You are welcome! There is one review of Southwinds -- you may have to ';google'; to find it, but its here on this site, as well as reviews for Ocean Creek.

I think some of the difference between the two are:

Southwinds is alot newer -- and the units just seem a bit more spacious (and GREAT balconies! I love a great balcony!)

Ocean Creek is a large complex...and depending on where you are in that complex it can be a short or long walk to the beach front. BUT, that also means that they do have a bit more ';to do'; there at the resort.

I do prefer the beachfront at Southwinds. Its (in my opinion) the best beachfront in the area (with the exception of down around the Huntington Beach State Park area). Nice and wide with Life Guards...

Southwinds is closer to some of the local attractions, i.e. Broadway at the Beach, Ripleys Aquarium, NasCar Speedpark, Myrtle Waves, mini golf, The Pavilion, Coastal Grande Mall, Tanger Outlets 501, and a number of restaurants just off Kings Hwy (rt 17) in the Avenue Area (50th Ave N to 82nd Ave N)

Hope this helps!! :)

Thank you very much it did help!

You are welcome! Just notcied that you were from Toronto. Thats where my daughter-in-laws family is from. They live in the Beaches area there. We were up that way at Christmas..had a great time in the city! Only thing was, we didnt have any snow! But did enjoy it!

MBConcierge,

Yes, Toronto is great, we have snow now you should come back for a visit!

Now I have a new problem I went to book Southwind yesterday and they were sold out. Just my luck!!

We are coming Apr. 14 (Easter) and I really should have booked earlier. Sand%26#39;s reviews are really bad and I am a little scared to book there. Ocean Creek%26#39;s indoor pool area is very small and Bay Watch seem out of the way and has some bad reviews. Any other suggestions...all I need is a 2 bedroom unit, kitchen and we%26#39;d like an indoor pool.

Thanks again!!!!

Ahh, think I%26#39;m over wanting snow right now..ha! Would%26#39;ve been great over the holidays --- now I%26#39;m ready for 70 degree days and 50 degree nights!

Yea, looks like Esster will be a busy time here, usually if it fall in April, tends to be that way. Well...hmm, did you try The Ocean Dunes or Forest Dunes? You can either check them thru like Expedia or www.vrbo.com. Or even maybe the Caravelle? Those 3 are in the ';Avenues'; area...really great beachfront (one of my favorite areas..not really far to anything, and good bus service ..not quite as good as Toronto, tho%26#39;!) Or there would be The Best Western Carolinian, The Camelot, or even the Atlantica (a bit of beachfront construction behind the Atlantica, hopefully to be completed soon). These properties would be close to the 21st Ave corridor. A number of restaurants in walking distance, the downtown area is close by, and Broadway at the Beach is just a short drive or bus ride. Good luck! Let me know what you find!

MBConcierge,

I am over the snow too, especially after this morning%26#39;s commute.

I booked the Sea Watch, I was looking at it the other day and they had no space but looked online today out of desperation and they was a 2 bedroom unit. So I booked it, hopefully I won%26#39;t be sorry. It seems to have good reviews and lots of pools etc. I think it is further away from the main strip but it seems to have enough around.

There is some shops and restaurants with in walking distance right??

Thanks again for all your help!

Sea Watch is a great property...not a bad beachfront...not far from Arcadian Shores for Golf, and Tanger Outlets, Colonial Mall and some other small shops (not really walking distance tho%26#39; -- short drive) Of course there are a number of restaurants and little shops at some of the hotel complexes in that area. You%26#39;ll have a great time! Plus they have a pretty active ';activities'; department...so I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll stay busy! You may want to check out

www.strandmagazine.com

for some ideas of other things to do. Things have really changed here, and there is ALOT to do all over the area! Have Fun!
