Luxury Accommodations in Charleston

Hi. We currently have reservations at the Wentworth Mansion but I am a little concerned that we may be too far away from the downtown area/activities as we would like to be able to stroll to dinner, have a cocktail, etc. Having said that: we do NOT really want to compromise of the quality of the lodging. Any recommendations for LUXURY lodging that is located more in the hub of all the ';goings on';? OR is Wentworth really close enough that it should not be a problem

Thanks!

Luxury Accommodations in Charleston

The Wentworth Mansion is Beautiful!!! With that said the Mansion is a little farther over than most of the sights, but it is not a bad walk. If you would rather stay in the middle of the city, you might want to try- The Planters Inn, they have just renovated 2 of their rooms to form 1 larger penthouse terrace suite, and it is extremely nice. You could book a room on the conceige level at Charleston Place or the Market Pavilion they both are right in the market too. I know it is hard to narrow down the choices, we have some really nice accommadations in the city. I hope this helps a little.

Luxury Accommodations in Charleston

The Wentworth is probably 8-10 blocks from the hub of the (big quotes) ';action.'; It%26#39;s truly a wonderful place-what a great excuse for a carraige ride or one of the new %26#39;Black Cabs!%26#39;

I%26#39;m staying on the Club Level of the Charleston Place this weekend for the Expo. I%26#39;ll tell ya what I think when I get back. I can%26#39;t wait....free booze all day until 10pm!!!

I think that you will be fine. The walk from the action may be far if the drinks take over. But Wentworth is nice and the fact that it is away from the action, could be an advantage. Enjoy your stay.

Charleston Place was rated one of the 50 best hotels in the World. So that would be a good choice I would imagine.

The Charleston Place was great!! I would definitely recommend staying on the top two floors (club level) because you can practically eat any meal at any time of the day for free. The bar is open until 10PM, so whenever you want a free beverage, its available. For the money, you can%26#39;t get a better location than the CP.

Bike Week

I am thinking of flying down to Myrtle Beach on Memorial weekend to stay with my children and grandchildren at Ocean Dunes in North Myrtle. I am concerned about getting a taxi from the airport to the hotel because of all the traffic. Does anyone know what the situation would be like if I am arriving on Thursday and flying out on Memorial Day?

Thank you for your help!

Grandmaw

Bike Week

You might want to rethink that weekend, it%26#39;s black bikers weekend and they are everywhere. Some businesses close. We won%26#39;t make the mistake by going at that time again.

Bike Week

Do not want to detour you from coming to MB but if you are not coming for the bike rally you may want to rethink your dates. I%26#39;ll give you an example of my personal experience...2 years ago I left to go to a fast food restaurant while on my lunch break from work. Well the trip that usually takes me 7 minutes took me 6 1/2 hours from the time I left work until the time I got back! I sat in bumper to bumper traffic that was at a standstill for most of the time!

Needless to say I nor my boss was very happy. That taught me a lesson... NEVER again will I leave work during Memorial Day for ANYTHING but to go home! Traffic is HORRENDOUS!!!

On any other weekend of the year you would be fine to take a taxi from the airport, but not this one. You may want to strongly discourage your family from vacationing there at this time also. If they must go then, I would stay as far south as possible. Try Garden City or Surfside or even Litchfield.

To Anybobnmb: Is it just bad Memorial Day Weekend. How about the time frame from May21 thru May27?

Grandmaw...

First off, if its Ocean Dunes Resort, they would be located in Myrtle Beach (201 75th Ave N, Myrtle Beach)and not North Myrtle Beach. Most of the activity for this weekend (Atlantic Beach Festival) takes place in Atlantic Beach which is a small community just south of North Myrtle Beach and downtown along the strip (Blvd) in Myrtle Beach. So as long as you are not planning in heading in either of those directions, I dont think you will have any huge delays.

The days you are coming and going are pretty much the peak arrival and departure days, but many of the festival goers drive in. Taxis should be available there at the airport...and they should exit the airport to the 1st red light, turn right onto Grissom (go length of Grissom) onto 17 Bypass going north to 82nd Ave N turn right to Ocean Blvd...and hotel is just a few blocks down. Total trip is probably about 10miles. Good Luck! :)

Tony,

The fesitval begins ';officially'; on the Thursday before Memorial Day...May 25th.

Tony,

During the bike rally during Memorial Day is the only time traffic is that bad.

I know a 75 year old lady that travels all over the area by taxi, many times a year and has done it often om Memorial weekend. She%26#39;s been very happy with the service.

HELP!!! Seawatch...Is is walking distance to main...

Okay, I%26#39;m planning on making my reservations today. I%26#39;m really pushing towards Seawatch. Hopefully this will be my last question for you all.

We have 4 kids (8, 4, 2, 1 years old) We want alot of fun stuff to do during our stay in July. Outside of the pools, lazy rivers, etc.. on the resort, are we going to have to put all the kids in the car to venture out somewhere else? Or are there things to do in walking distance?? Please Help!! Thanks a ton!

HELP!!! Seawatch...Is is walking distance to main...

Sea Watch does have alot to do right there on the property, however, any ';local attractions'; would need to be driven to. There are a few other hotels/resorts nearby, with basically the same type of amenities that the Sea Watch has but may differ just a bit.

Barefoot Landing would be your closest ';fun stuff'; area...its really not that far, just a short drive, but do remember that there is basically only a few ways in and out of the area that Sea Watch is located, so you may run into a bit of traffic tryin to venture out, just be patient.

Have a great time! Its great here today....sunny and suppose to get to 78! Yea!

:)

HELP!!! Seawatch...Is is walking distance to main...

Myrtle Beach is not a ';walking'; town.(especially with kids your age!) However, everything is very easy to find and only a 5-15 minute drive to resturants, arcades, amusements, etc.

Be SURE to take them to Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing.

Both these places are entertainment/amusement/shopping/kid-friendly places. Hard to explain them (you will see what I mean after you go there) Ripleys Aquarium is at Broadway at the Beach and is a MUST!

Seawatch is great. Tons to do and lots of kids.

You can not really walk to anywhere from there but the great news is this place is a quick and easy drive to all the places you will want to go. Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the beach ect..

Make sure you check out VRBO. com before you rent at seatwatch. You can save a ton

Bar-b-que

Who has the best barbque on the beach?

Bar-b-que

There is a place right inside of Murrels Inlet Called Pig and Chicken across from Maze Mania and they have awsome b-b-que

Bar-b-que

Ditto, CBR....Pig and Chicken is really good! Another good option is Three Little Pigs...just of 17 Bypass and 62nd Ave N in Myrtle Beach. Yummmmmm...... :)

Another vote for Pig %26amp; Chicken.

Holiday Sands North

We are leaving for Myrtle Beach next week, we are booked into the Holiday Sands North some of the Reviews are bad, most are good, help I%26#39;m getting scared. We are staying in an A1 room. The staff have been wonderful on the phone and everything sounds great about the room. I know it won%26#39;t be a five star, I guess I sure would like some reassurance it will be okay.

Holiday Sands North

I have not stayed at the HS North, but have stayed at the one on the south end. It was always clean, friendly staff, and great parking. Same owners I beleive

Holiday Sands North

thanks so much for the input!!!

Stayed two years ago it was a little old but clean. But the price was right.Ask to see a room. If you really dont like it go up to Sandy beach resort.3rd ave south and ocean. We really like this hotel. And it has great prices.www.beachtrips.com (magnolia building)

Thank you very much!!

Although I%26#39;m not sure if we would get our money back, we have already paid our deposit, we were afraid to get down there and have to start looking.

  • Tropical Winds or Seacrest

We have been looking at so many hotels for our trip! Can anyone give a review on the Tropical Winds or Seacrest? I have it narrowed down to these two, so far!! We have 3 children ages 18, 11, %26amp; 10. We want to stay directly on the ocean, and have an oceanfront room.

    Tropical Winds or Seacrest

I think the kids would like Sea Crest and you will too. They have great kids pool and lazy river.Free breakfast which saves time and money.amusement park is across the street. My son was 11 when we went two years ago.He keeps asking when we are going back.I do not think you will be disappointed.

Savannah to Myrtle Beach, what don't I want to miss?

We are two couples in our 50%26#39;s flying into Savannah,GA, March 30th, flying back home April 7th. Bringing our golf clubs, (but are not serious golfers). We want to stay and see Charleston, Myrtle Beach and spend some time in Savannah before we fly home. My question is, What don%26#39;t I want to miss in these three towns? We%26#39;re from Oregon and have never been to the East coast. I don%26#39;t want to take my friends to places that are just tourist traps. What wouldn%26#39;t you want to miss seeing or doing in one are all three of these historic towns?

Savannah to Myrtle Beach, what don't I want to miss?

I am a true South Carolinian, and my suggestion is to spend as much time in Charleston as possible. In Myrtle Beach, you%26#39;ll run into the tourist traps you wanted to avoid. Savannah is also a beautiful city. As far as Charleston%26#39;s beaches, the list is endless!!! Isle of Palms is a popular, classy place with nice ocean front rentals, and it is closer to the heart of the city. However, my heart belongs to Seabrook Island. It is a private, resort island 30 minutes outside of Charleston. At Seabrook, it is all about natural beauty. If you%26#39;re looking for SECLUDED beaches, golf courses, and tennis, this is the place to go.

You can rent several condos. Spinnaker and Pelican watch are closest to the beach, and some of my personal favorites. Go to Seabrook, and you%26#39;ll have a truly relaxing time.

Savannah to Myrtle Beach, what don't I want to miss?

I can second JasmineBelle%26#39;s comments about Myrtle Beach. I%26#39;m a native Oregonian, although my grandparents are from SC and most of my family still lives there. To give you a better idea about Myrtle Beach, picture Seaside, Oregon on steroids. I have never seen as many mini-golf courses anywhere as I have in Myrtle Beach!!

Charleston however is simply amazing! Everytime we visit we always find it%26#39;s never long enough. If you want to see a lot of antebellum homes go to Beaufort, SC. It%26#39;s between Charleston and Savannah. There%26#39;s a lot of South Carolina history there and the homes are amazing. Several movies were shot there and it%26#39;s just wonderful.

Savannah is a lovely city. If you%26#39;re pressed for time you can take the trolly and it%26#39;s a narrated tour and allows you to get on and off at varius stops throughout the historic area. I can%26#39;t for the life of me remember the name, but they have an office on the waterfront.

Savannah is nice, however my heart belongs to Charleston and the surrounding area. The beaches are very nice, not at all like we have in Oregon.

Charleston also has many walking tours and narrated trolly tours as well.

Savannah to Myrtle Beach, what don't I want to miss?

Savannah to Myrtle Beach, what don't I want to miss?

Spend most of your time in Charleston. Be sure to see a Plantation house. Take a carriage tour. Skip Myrtle Beach!!!

If you go to Savannah, eat at Lady and Sons.

Be sure to take a guided tour of Savannah, too.

There%26#39;s a great seafood place on Sullivan%26#39;s Island, called Sullivans. Family owned and inexpensive. A lot of great food for a little bit of money.

The South Carolina Aquarium is worth the money and it%26#39;s right downtown Charleston.

Before you go to Savannah, watch Forrest Gump and Midnight in the Garden too.

    Have fun, we always do.

Savannah to Myrtle Beach, what don't I want to miss?

I%26#39;m a native Charlestonian so I may be a bit biased in my suggestions...Magnolia and Middleston Place Gardens would be my first stop during your visit. All of the flowers will be in full bloom then and are quite a sight to behold. A carriage ride is helpful in acclamating you to the downtown area. Your tour guide will give you lots of history and entertainment on your ride. If you%26#39;re a history buff, a trip to Ft. Sumter is fun too. Not only do you get to see history at the fort, but you also get a lovely view of our historic city from the tour boat. A gentle stroll around the battery in our downtown is fun and relaxing before or after a meal at one of our delicious restaurants. If you need suggestions for restaurants or lodging, let me know. I visit Savannah and Myrtle Beach quite often. Savannah is like a mini Charleston. The downtown area is where you should spend most of your time. Lots of fun shops and great restaurants on the riverwalk. I do enjoy Myrtle Beach as well. The Granstrand is fun, but is VERY touristy. Most people you%26#39;ll encounter will be from the Northeast. (They just all seem to LOVE it there!) If you do decide to visit there, you%26#39;ll have great golfing, good outlet mall shopping, and LOTS of themed dinner shows...Dolly Parton%26#39;s Dixie Stampede, Legends, and the House of Blues, to name a few. Just all depends on your likes. Have a great time here, y%26#39;all!

Thanks, I would love to have recommendations for dinner and lodging. My sister-in-law can get us a Family and Friends deal at the Marriott%26#39;s. Do you know if they have any in either Savannah or Charleston that you would recommend? If not, what would you recommend?

I do want to take a carriage ride. Which company do you recommend. And what do you think about the Bulldog Tours. They have several night tours that look fun. Do you recommend any of them?

    Thanks to everyone for answering.

Fine dining suggestions include: Penninsula Grill, Anson, High Cotton, Carolina%26#39;s,and Cypress. Casual dining suggestions include: Joseph%26#39;s, Jestine%26#39;s Kitchen, Jim and Nick%26#39;s BBQ, Vickery%26#39;s, and The Boathouse. All above restaurants are located in downtown Charleston. There are many ';Marriott'; hotels here. There is a Residence Inn located within a 5 minute drive to downtown. Also, a Courtyard Inn is within a stones throw to downtown. However, you would really benefit from staying in one of our local hotels such as: The Vendue Inn, The Planter%26#39;s Inn, The French Quarter Inn, and The Market Pavilion Hotel. If you crave luxury in a large hotel setting, you can%26#39;t beat the Charleston Place Hotel. Check prices for all of the hotels mentioned since they vary. I can%26#39;t comment specifically on the tour company you mentioned. I%26#39;m not familiar with them. There are many tour operators here and they do have good reputations. It%26#39;s also quite fun to ';get lost in the city'; yourself and see the lovely architecture. Happy to answer any more questions you have.

I%26#39;m an Oregonian with deep family ties to the Charleston area, so I too am a bit biased, but it%26#39;s by far my favorite city in the south!

I can second the Vendue Inn. Family members in the area suggested it to us and we were not disappointed, and never have been. The service was amazing. Be sure to check out their website.

We enjoyed the food at High Cotton and love to eat breakfast at Joseph%26#39;s. Their pumpkin pancakes are to die for. It%26#39;s off the beaten path, but a nice walk from the Vendue and we found both the service and the food to be excellent.

The Magnolia Plantation is also a must see. There are flowers everywhere and when you walk through the massive gardens you feel like you have the place to yourself.

You just can%26#39;t beat Charleston and the surrounding area!

Even though my heart is in Savannah and I think it much more wonderful than Charleston, I second the motion to see Magnolia Plantation and Middleton Place. They are close enough together that you could spend a few hours at one, have lunch and then see the other one.

With just one week, split the time between Charleston and Savannah with maybe a stop in Beaufort. Skip Myrtle Beach unless you just want to say you played golf there. It%26#39;s just one looonnnnggg row of hotels. You can%26#39;t even see the beach unless you happen to stay at one of them.

Toddlers swim outside last week of March?

We%26#39;re planning a few days in the last week of March with a 4 yr old and 2 yr old twins. My researched has been based in finding the best indoor swimming selections due to uncertainty of weather and my wee little ones getting too cold quickly. Is this a big concern? In order, i%26#39;ve liked Ocean Reef, Monterey, Compass Cove, Long Bay, and Caravelle. Anyone have any insight to help me finally make a decision? Thanks:-)

Toddlers swim outside last week of March?

As far as the ocean, the National Oceanographic Data Center says the water temp is 55 in March and 62 in early April. Average air temp in March is mid-60s.

We do have to be careful of little kids%26#39; in the cold and heat since they don%26#39;t regulate their body temps so well yet. Remember, when you%26#39;re wet, you feel even colder than the air temp. (I wonder if there%26#39;s a chart for by how much?)

Toddlers swim outside last week of March?

All good choices; I would say Long Bay or Ocean Reef have the best indoor pool complexes. I actually prefer Long Bay %26amp; it is less expensive than Ocean Reef...OR also has construction going on.

Another option is Captain%26#39;s Quarters...they have a beautiful new outdoor kiddies pool with many great features %26amp; a new outdoor pool...both are heated. Their indoor complex is also very nice.

The ocean at that time of year really hasnt warmed up to that ';bathlike'; temp we like! But as far as hanging out on the beach, as long as we dont have a strong wind coming across the water, it shouldnt be bad.

I really like the pool at Monteray Bay. Its like and indoor/outdoor pool area with a lazy river and and indoor and outdoor jacuzzi. One nice thing about the pool complex is that its really tucked in close to the hotel with tall dunes around it...stays nice and cozy! Plenty of folks out there tanning when I walked by yesterday! And as an added plus they have a great breakfast buffet and a evening dessert buffet that is included in the price of the room! Have fun! :)

Where to stay in Myrtle Beach

My husband and I are going to Myrtle Beach for the first time in early April for a weekend. What is the best hotel area on the ocean front to stay? Myrtle Beach, South or North?

Where to stay in Myrtle Beach

Wow...the best?? Hmmm....well lets give you a few options, then I would check out the various reviews of those places to the left here on the forum.

    Hampton Inn OceanFront(Myrtle Beach Southend)

Marriott Grande Dunes (Myrtle Beach Northend)

    Avista (North Myrtle Beach)

Litchfield Inn (Pawleys Island - far south)

I%26#39;m sure you will have other suggestions...it really depends on what you like, and what type of amenities that you are looking for. Have a great time! Its a great place for a getaway trip... :)

Where to stay in Myrtle Beach

    Also

www.vrbo.com has a great list of condos. Mosthave nice pictures of the living rooms and bedrooms.

Fairfield Ocean Blvd. and Sea Watch North Tower are very nice.

Check out Crescent Shores on VRBO.com

I'm adding to my last post

Or should we try Sands Resort and if so, which one is best from all the resorts within. We definitely want oceanfront.

I'm adding to my last post

If you are opting between Sands Resorts and Sea Mist...I think I would prefer The Sands.

Try the Sand Dunes around 77th Ave N. Great NEW waterpark for the kids...really awesome! And alot newer than the Sea Mist.

    Hope this helps! :)

  • Sands Ocean Club

I have a reservation for spring break at sands ocean club. After reading the reviews(not good)I am thinking maybe I should look at renting a private condo or something. We are traveling with another family there will be 9 of us total. Does anyone have any information that may convince me to keep my reservation at Sands?

    Sands Ocean Club

Not for sure if I can offer you any reason to stay at Sands Ocean Club -- out of the Sands resorts, probably one of their lower level properties. I really like the Sand Dunes...nice place.

Guess too, its the beach up where the Sands Ocean is at. Seems like at high tide...no beach at all...but there are some cute condos in that area (Shore Drive) You may check out www.vrbo.com and look at:

maisons, pelican landing, or a place at the beach.

    Myrtle Beach Hotel

Traveling to Myrtle Beach on March 25th for 5 nights. We%26#39;ve reserved two hotels: Breaker%26#39;s Paradise Tower or the Hampton Inn Oceanside. Anyone have an opinion on which might be better? Lazy River better at one than another? We have 2 children -- ages 13 and 7.

    Thank you!

    Myrtle Beach Hotel

Both properties are great! I really do like the Hampton Inn Oceanfront...great place and great staff, but I do prefer the location of the Breakers if you want to be closer to some of the attractions such as the Pavilion, Broadway at the Beach, Nascar, Ripleys Aquarium, etc.

Great map to check out regarding location is

The Hampton Inn Oceanfront is a fabulous hotel and very very clean! You won%26#39;t be dissapointed!

    proximity to historic district

i am now debating between mills house and holiday inn historic district - they both sound nice but which one is the best for walking everywhere in the historic district?

    proximity to historic district

The Mills House. The Holiday Inn is closer to C of C.

    proximity to historic district

The Mills House Hotel is closer to the center of the historic city.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Historic District, and although I have no complaints with the hotel (concierge is awesome!), it is quite a walk to the market area or anything past that. Since you%26#39;ll be doing a lot of walking in Charleston anyway, you might not want to have to walk back and forth to the hotel that far too.

    Coral Beach Resort

is the Coral Beach right on the ocean, and is it in a busy area? also, do they have a continental breakfast?

    Coral Beach Resort

It anit in a real busy area. YEs they also have a continental breakfast also. You are makeing a great choice by staying here also!!!

    Coral Beach Resort

    Hi Helen5!

The Coral Beach Resort is right on the ocean...great location...the Family Kingdom is just a short walk and across the street. We didn%26#39;t find the area all that busy. But to disagree with cbr guest they do not have a continental breakfast. They do have a wonderful breakfast buffet that has anything you could want. Cost was about $6 per person but well worth the price. You can either eat in the resturant or fix a takeout container and take it back to your room. Just didn%26#39;t want you to be disapointed if you thought they had something they don%26#39;t. Have a wonderful vacation!

Well they have serve breakfast. I was close. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel when we was there because taht place was packed.

thanks so much for your responses - I think I am going to book at the Coral Beach!! I can%26#39;t wait for July!!!!!!

Looking clean condo or suite near barefoot

Will be in MB end of March. Looking for the cleanest place to stay with all the anemites and modern, not outdated. Also easy parking-truck will travel. So many times I have stayed somewhere you thought by web was clean current to find it is disapointing. Want this to be a very special trip.

Looking clean condo or suite near barefoot

Check out the Southwinds. Website is thesouthwind.com They are new (2004) and looks great. We will be staying there in about four weeks. Will write back and let you know. Looks upscale, with all the amenities we would want. Rooms looks big and beautiful, close to Barefoot Landing, I think.

Looking clean condo or suite near barefoot

Barefoot North Tower is very nice, behind Barefoot Landing. Nice view of the Intercoastal Waterway. I%26#39;ve stayed at and own a timeshare at Shore Crest Villas on the oceanfront directly across from Barefoot Landing. Both would be good choices. Look for timeshare rentals to save money at Shorecrest and several vacation rental sites by owner have condos at North Tower.

I really do like the area where Southwinds is located...beautiful property too! There is a bit of contruction going on two doors down on the Dunes Village project that will not be completed until Spring 2007, and hopefully soon they will finish up the Stormwater runoff project that is pretty much directly behind them on the beachfront.

Another place you may want to check out in that area is The Mariott at Grande Dunes (same general area) or the Forest Dunes. I%26#39;d also suggest the Sea Island, but they will not open until May.

All of those properties are actually closer to Broadway at the Beach than Barefoot Landing, but still not a bad drive to get there. Check out a few good websites for maps and info:

    www.golymo.com (click on maps/schedules)

    www.strandmagazine.com (local info)

    Have fun!!! :)

Forest Dunes would be a good choice.Excellent views from the 6th floor on up.

Thanks to everyone for thier ideas and helping me out. I really appreciate you taking the time. God bless.....

what to do at night near Kiawah Island

    Hi,

We%26#39;ll be playing golf for several days in the Kiawah area and wonder what else there is to do besides lie on a beach or go to a nature preserve/canoe/kayak trip. We will take one day to explore the area and we%26#39;ll be out every night, what should we do/where should we go?

    Thanks,

    -d

what to do at night near Kiawah Island

It depends on the time of year as to what activities are going on, either on Kiawah or downtown. The Resort check-in desk will have a booklet outlining activities on the island and there is a visitors%26#39; center located in Town Hall on Beachwalker Drive just before the Kiawah gate that can provide area information.

what to do at night near Kiawah Island

thanks, I%26#39;ll be down on Kiawah near the end of April. I%26#39;ve researched the island and wonder what else is nearby as well.

    -d

Charleston is probably your answer to night time activity. I normally only visit Kiawah in June and they have lots of activities planned during the summer months. I always check with the Charleston Visitor%26#39;s Center for events in Charleston. They are always friendly and helpful. I have small kids, however if you are traveling without kids then make sure to eat at the Charleston Grill located inside the Charleston Place Hotel. Upscale and expensive--worth every penny. If you don%26#39;t want to spend as much then try Slightly North of Broad (S.N.O.B.) It%26#39;s awesome, gourmet and it%26#39;s a bit more relaxed. Mostly adults with a small bar, however I was comfortable taking my kids there to eat. Have fun. I love Charleston and Kiawah.

Kiawah is very quiet at night, which is not too bad if you%26#39;ve been out all day for golf/tennis/kayaking/bicycling/etc. The island is like an elegant sleep-away camp for grown ups.

If you are going to Kiawah in the summer months, attend an oyster roast (once a week May until September though the Kiawah Island Golf Resort). If your group plays Bridge, evenings on Kiawah are a good opportunity.

Charleston is fabulous! Great restuarants and lots of local charm.

  • Does Anyone Know anything about the Garners Ferry Suites?

I%26#39;m going to see my finace graduate BCT in March and can%26#39;t find any reveiws of this place. If anyone knows anything the info would be graetlt appreciated!

Does Anyone Know anything about the Garners Ferry Suites?

I don%26#39;t know that hotel specifically but there are several new and recently redone hotels on Garners Ferry (I just can%26#39;t remember the names)(one is a Hampton Inn). They are very convenient to the base (Gate 1) and quick eateries (Waffle House, Pizza Hut, Rushs, ChikFilA). There is nothing to that area to recommend it as far as shopping or nightlife but there is great shopping and great restaurants within 2-3 miles (going towards downtown).

    StudioPlus Columbia-West on Stoneridge Dr

    Hi,

I will be visiting Columbia with my family in March. My husband has a conference in the downtown area, so my young sons and I will be wandering around to see the sights on our own during the days. I am thinking about staying at the StudioPlus on Stoneridge Dr. Does anyone know anything about this hotel and the area? It is in the downtown area and looks to be close to the zoo, which I hear is fabulous!

    StudioPlus Columbia-West on Stoneridge Dr

I%26#39;m sorry I don%26#39;t know anything about that hotel. The area is ok - not terrific, but convenient to downtown. The zoo is fabulous - don%26#39;t miss it! Further downtown there is also a fairly new childrens museum (EdVenture) which is in the same parking lot with the state museum, both of which are also good ways to spend time with children.

    HELP! Need input.

Hello... I am planning on coming to Myrtle Beach over Spring break and I was looking for a place for me and my friend to stay that is close to the main attractions. We are just two gals looking to have fun and let loose- and we want something within walking distance of the shopping, dining and bars (we are both 24). I have been looking at the Holiday Inn at the Pavillion. I have never been to Myrtle Beach and I really don%26#39;t even know where the attractions are. And what is the atmosphere during spring break?

    HELP! Need input.

Spring break here at the beach isnt as crowded as say Panama City or Daytona..but we do have a pretty good spring break crowd..

Most of the attractions are in two different areas in Myrtle Beach --- you have the Boulevard (or the strip -- great for cruising at night), %26amp; Broadway at the Beach (which is nowhere near the beach, about 2 miles away). If you want something within walking distance to shopping, dining and entertainment and you dont mind taking you car or grabbing the bus to go the beach, I would suggest staying near Broadway...maybe check out the Hampton Inn Broadway or the Holiday Inn Express. Another option would be the Sheraton at the Convention Center. This property sits between the beach and Broadway at the Beach. One great thing about this place is that if you check with the bellstaff they will shuttle you to and from both the beach and Broadway.

If you want to stay oceanfront...Holiday Inn and the Pavilion is a good place...close to the downtown area, and you can jump on the bus to head over to Broadway (they run until 2am during season) A few other hotels in that area are The Atlantica, Carolinian Best Western, Dayton House, Camelot, The Breakers...just to name a few.

Check out these websites to give you a feel for the area:

    www.strandmagazine.com

    www.broadwayatthebeach.com

    www.golymo.com (great map!)

    have fun! :)

    HELP! Need input.

Thanks for the information! I am just trying to find the best place possible. This will really help me to make a good choice.

You might experience the ';under 25 cold shoulder';...meaning many hotels in MB will not rent to anyone under 25. I%26#39;m sure the Breakers will turn you down...good luck %26amp; please let us know how you make out.

Oppsss...was thinking Breakers was 21 and over...but youre correct. Breakers will not rent to another under 25, unless you are married :)

Most of the other hotels listed will rent to under 25, some with, some without a deposit. I do know that the Shearton at the Convention Center will rent to 18 and up without a deposit, as long as they are paying with a credit card.

Spring is already here at the beach! Everyone walking the beach in swimsuits...78 and sunny today! Yea!!

I%26#39;m in a bit of the same boat you are in. I looked on a few sites to see what I could find. Get yourself one of these:

    http://www.myrtlebeachvipcard.com/index.cfm

I think it is a good deal. Order before 3/10/06 and save $5. It shows you a bunch of clubs and resturants where it works. It should pay for itself in a hurry. Also, there is a little description of each place, so you have an idea what the club, etc. is all about. Also... it gives deals on cab rides. That DEFINATELY may come in handy. I%26#39;m going down there March 8-12. Wish I was going the same time you were - I%26#39;d buy u 2 some drinks! Have fun and I wish you the best of luck. I know some people down there, so I may be able to get you some more inside information if you wish. I just signed up for this so I don%26#39;t know how it works or how replies go, but I think they come to my e-mail. I%26#39;ll be looking to hear from you.

    http://myrtlebeachtours.com/index.cfm

The MB VIP is a pretty good deal...but you may also want to check with either the bellstand or concierge desk where you are staying..many of the clubs, restaurants and yes, even cab companies have passes or coupons that are there for the asking --- and if its a top notch staff, you wont even have to ask, just tell them that youre looking at going out and having a great time --- they%26#39;ll take it from there! Have a great time!

As for Myrtle Beach Tours...ok for those that dont mind pretty strict rules...be sure to read the fine print on the contract!

    decent hotel for 21-25 year-olds?

My son %26amp; his golf group are being turned down left %26amp; right...it seems any hotel that has ';owned'; units will not rent to ANYONE under 25. And he has been told they WILL check everyone%26#39;s ID.

So, other than the ';dumps';, what are his options?

PS: They would prefer a golf package.

    decent hotel for 21-25 year-olds?

    They could try www.myrtlebeachtours.com

    decent hotel for 21-25 year-olds?

I would try the Sheraton at the Convention Center...very nice place, great golf rates, not sure on golf package, but try the concierge desk. They wont have a problem here, as they rent to anyone over 18 who are paying with a credit card. If paying cash, they would have to put up a $50 deposit (but this would be true for anyone paying cash).

Its one of two 4 diamond hotels at the beach, 2 blocks from the beach, 2 blocks from Broadway at the Beach...great bellstaff that does offer shuttle service within a certain radius of the hotel (to Broadway , to the beach, Myrtlewood and Pinelakes!)

    Hope this helps! :)

Also, get yourself one of these and save some cash

    http://www.myrtlebeachvipcard.com/index.cfm

Re: MB Vip Card...great idea, but you can also get some great deals by stopping by the hotel bell desk or the concierge desk. Most restaurants, clubs and even taxis and limo services have coupons or passes available at these these desks...just stop by and ask.

As for Myrtle Beach Tours...ok for those not minding pretty strict rules...be sure to read the fine print on the contract first!

    Fireworks?

I have read so many reviews and now I%26#39;m lost. I read about a place that you can see the fireworks from your balcony and collect shark%26#39;s teeth in the morning. I think it said it was a few blocks from the boardwalk? Any ideas?

    Fireworks?

Are you talking about the fireworks at Barefoot,Boardwalk At The Beach,or one of thr beach displays. You wont believe the illegal displays that get set off on the beach, its like one trys to outdo the other on the 4th of July.Im sure MBConcierge will have some knowledge on this subject.

    Fireworks?

I couldn%26#39;t believe the firecrackers and fireworks that are set off at night along the beach. Not just on the pier, but everywhere. Beach patrol does come along ever so often and stops them, but the kids just come back after a while and set more off. One time we were awaken at 3:00 in the morning with firecrackers going off right in front of our hotel on the beach.grrr!

And fireworks are set off from the piers not just on July 4th, but usually once a week I believe.

2nd ave pier on tuesday nights.

Funny out fireworks brings out the kid in all of us!

Just to remind all that shooting off fireworks on the beach if illegal..and there is a pretty stiff fine if you are caught. With that said, it is a law that isnt strictly inforced (to the dismay of those residents that live in the line of the action).

I agree with DCLady...man, the 4th can be crazy! Just grab yourself a seat anywhere along the oceanfront and you can watch fireworks from dusk til dawn....no kidding! And, if you try to walk the beach on the night of the 4th...its like being in the line of fire! C-R-A-Z-Y!

We have 3 nights of scheduled fireworks...

    Monday --- Barefoot Landing

Turesday --- Broadway at the Beach

Wednesday --- 2nd Ave Pier, MB

Of course, on the 4th we have fireworks, and sometimes on the 3rd...and other holidays...Labor Day, Can Am Days, Sun Fun Fest. Then you also have fireworks at some the Pelicans games (that our Atlanta Brave farm team). So we have PLENTY of great shows!

Great shark teeth area is in between 48th Ave N to 67th Ave N..we always find a number of them! It sometimes amazes folks that we find that many!

Places to stay in that area with a great balcony...Southwind Villas, Forest Dunes, Sea Island (opens May), going more south (closer to 2nd Ave) Dayton House, Atlantica, Camelot...just to name a few!

    Happy Hunting! :)

    kiawah advice

    We have visited kiawah 28 times since 1983 and some advice on how to really enjoy this spectacular barrier island;

1)rent a home behind the second gate i.e. Vanderhorst Plantation, preferrably with a pool. this can get pricey but is worth it.

save $ by eating breakfast and lunch at your home and some dinners too. Grill fresh seafood from kiawah fish market.Fresh produce readily available.

    2)rent bikes!!

3)check home location on a kiawah map - some are fairly far from the beach.

4)you can save $ ( for the home with a pool) by playing golf in the afternoon after the rates drop. with cold drinks and a cart this is not overly hot (caution: beware of the ocean course when the wind is up as can happen in the afternoon)

5)stay 2 weekss if you can. this is real relaxation. the weather is then a nonisssue and you can feel your blood pressure coming down. invite the inlaws or outlaws if necessary to defray the cost.

6)visit charleston and take a carriage ride if you are new to the city.

7)look at a map for beach access before you rent.

8)we have rented nice homes form the resort as well as pam harrington and vrbo.com

in my opinion hilton head, fripp, MB, nags head etc do not compare with the back part of Kiawah.

we owned property and it apprecated 300% in 4 years - I still regret selling. If done right Kiawah is a slice of heaven.

    kiawah advice

    Great advice!

For families who do not want or need a larger home with a pool, renting an Inlet Cove cottage is a great alternative.

The Inlet Cove pool belongs only to the Inlet Cove property owners, so you can use the pool, with adjacent river-front deck and dock, no matter which owner or management company you rent from. If you rent a cottage with a full river view, you will enjoy fabulous sunsets and feel like you are alone with nature, even though you are in a full-service resort community.

  • food stores on kiaway island

We are going to Kiawah Island to cater a party for friends %26amp; was wondering if there are any big grocery stores or restaurant supply stores. I have never been there before %26amp; want to be prepared. Should I bring the majority of food %26amp; utensils w/ me or what is the closest grocery store. Thanks all!

    food stores on kiaway island

The closest grocery store is Newton Farms, which is brand new and is located at the turn off from the main road to Kiawah. I haven%26#39;t been there but know several people who have. It should have everything you need. There is a very good selection of prepared foods (or take and bake type stuff). Rosebank Farms is also on the road to Kiawah and is a great place to buy seafood, vegetables, etc.

As far as utensils, if you are renting a condo or home, that should be stocked. You might ask the owner.

    food stores on kiaway island

There is a somewhat limited store in the East Village, but as drive to the Island on Bohicket Road, you will pass two Piggly Wiggly (I still have trouble saying that name with a straight face) stores on the way to the island.

The first (the ';Big Pig';, to my family) is about 10 miles from the island at the corner of Bohicket Road and Maybank Highway. It%26#39;s a large, modern, full-service grocery store.

The second (you guessed it - the ';Little Pig';) is about 2 miles from the island entrance. The selection is not as great and it%26#39;s a tad crowded, but it%26#39;s fine for stocking up for one week%26#39;s provisions.

The so-called ';little pig'; closed last year when Newton Farms opened.

Newton Farms is a first-class super market selling high-end products. They have an excellent wine and cheese selection, even by NJ/NY standards.

There is a liquor store in the Freshfields shopping center, where Newton Farms is located, and another at the Bohicket Marina on nearby Seabrook island. Be aware that while wine and beer are available seven days per week from the supermarkets, ';hard'; liquor stores are closed on Sundays, by South Carolina law.

You will have all normal kitchen equipment, including microwave, ice maker, and blender, in your house or villa. If you are entertaining a large group, you may want more dishes, utensils, and glassware. (Plastics, maybe?)

    Ghost tours..e tc

Does anyone have any recomendations on the best ghost tours? The scaryier(sp?) the better!

Any other things that we JUST CAN%26#39;T miss??

    Ghost tours..e tc

I think that the scariest ghost tour is the Haunted Jail Tour given by Bulldog Tours. Now this tour does not walk around in the streets at night and tell ghost stories, it does a tour of the jail only. The jail is super scary and will give you the creeps! If you want to be spooked do this one.

    Ghost tours..e tc

Charleston is magical and, yes, spooky, in the evening. Buy a book of Charleston ghost stories, which you should be able to obtain at the Visitor%26#39;s Bureau. Take a stroll through the historic district at dusk. The breeze through the palmettos and the filtered moonlight on the old churchyards and gardens should be just the recipe for a ghostly experience.

You also might enjoy taking the boat tour to Ft Sumter. Given its history, there should be some ghosts out there.

I have gone on two, both by different companies and both were good. Watch, because one of them must had been affiliated with another company who must own a few restaurants in town because they were blatantly advertising certain restaurants on the tour. Can%26#39;t remember who the tour companies were, but it is really fun to do and something different and would recommend it for a night outing. There are discount coupons in a lot of those tourist magazine things.

The 3 bedroom condos at Forest Dunes are some of the most spacious you can get with fantastic views that start on the 12th floor and go up to the 18th.Has decent outdoor pool and lazy-river but the indoor pool is rather small. The location on 55th and ocean blvd. is one of the best.Broadway At The Beach is 4 miles away,Barefoot Landing 8 miles,Pavillion 4 miles and Murrells Inlet 16 miles.

I have to agree with TonyMik (again :) ) on this one...really like the condos there at Forest Dunes...and a really nice area. Close to everything (that my only problem with the other properties...especially if you are traveling with kids, they like hitting those attractions).

Granted, Forest Dunes isnt close to Cherry Grove Pier..but you can surf fish in the area of Forest Dunes (which alot of people do) or you can make a real day out of it and take one of the head boats out of either Calabash or Murrells Inlet and fish that way. Check out

    www.hurricanefleet.com

They are out of Calabash (about 30 miles north)

The one out of Murrells Inlet is Capt Dicks.

    Weather in April

Ok...I know this is such a mundane question to ask but sorry I have to.

We will be arriving in Myrtle Beach April 22nd %26amp; need to know what the weather will be like? (as an average)

We gave up our usual Caribbean vaction (timeshare exchange) because of the ridiculous cost of airfares.

I LOVE the sun %26amp; the beach %26amp; am really hoping to be able to soak up some warmth at the beach.

Do you think this will honestly be possible?

We are from Canada %26amp; I am so ready to see sun %26amp; sand instead of snow %26amp; ice !!!!!

    Weather in April

Not mundance at all....weather is a very important factor in vacation!

Well...we probably wont be quite as warm as the caribbean that time of year, but you will definately be able to soak up some sun while you%26#39;re here. The average (and this is average)day temp is in the mid 70%26#39;s and avg low night temp is the upper 50%26#39;s. Of course alot depends on that time of year which way the wind is blowing. If its coming across the water, it may feel a bit cooler (like an air conditioner)..but if it is coming across land it will feel alot warmer. Today is a perfect example of that --- wind is from the west, temp is currently 78 degrees! AND sunny! In fact, all of us here in the office have a bit of a sunburn on our faces from being outside the last couple days!

If it is a bit windy at the beach, you can always rent a wind hut from one of the life guards. I%26#39;m sure you will have a good time!

    :)

    Weather in April

    Wow...what quick service (response).

Thanks MBConcierge...I figured I could count on you.

I have always used this forum before we travel %26amp; have always gotten good info regarding our destinations from ';locals';.

My family usually kids me about doing this but trust me it has helped us be ';informed vacationers';.

    Even though our daughter %26amp; her her hubby will be with us %26amp; they have been to MB before it is always nice to get ';the insdie scoop';

Thanks again %26amp; have a great day.

The current temperture is 75 and the high tomorrow is supposed to be 78. That%26#39;s warm for this period but about right for late April but it could vary some in either direction.

I should have read MBC%26#39;s post; he gave you the lowdown.

I know...and with the way things change around here -- what was there last year might not even exist this year!

I%26#39;ve used this forum for a number of trips -- started when we traveled to the Bahamas..and like you said, you had that insider info...heck I almost felt like a local when I got there!

Have a great time with us! Enjoy :)

In April the average air temperature is 75 and average water temperature is 62.

Ok...today was -12 degrees (remember we use celcius) but with the wind the ';real feel'; is -23 so anthing over 70 is starting to sound REAL good!!!!!!!!

still need info on shipwatch pointe 1

anyone out there with info on this condo and proximity to beach. thanks

still need info on shipwatch pointe 1

Shipwatch Point is located in the Shore Drive area of Myrtle Beach. The condos are pretty nice...not quite as nice as Maisons, but not as pricey either. They are located right next door to an area called the ';straw market';...a few botique style shops, ice cream, and a small restaurant. Its maybe a block and a half to the beach...they have a pool there at the condos.

Youre not much farther to Apache Pier (restaurant and arcade there), and Ocean Annies and River City is at the other end of that area.

Two things about the Shore Drive area.

The Beach...great at low tide, however, if we have even a bit of higher than normal tide, no beach at high tide. And depending on when those tides happen...it can be a pretty packed beach!

The access to anywhere...only a few ways in and out of Shore Drive. Either Lake Arrowhead RD or Kings Road....both can be nightmares at certain times of the day. Especially Lake Arrowhead...traffic can back up at the light on Rt 17 forever! And if you use the Kings Road way out...make sure its not on a rainy day, as this road puts you out at a major shopping area...WALMART and Tanger Outlets! Yikes!

But other than that...its a nice area...I%26#39;ve had cousins stay in that area ever since they started coming down...wont stay anywhere else! And they LOVE Finn McCools! :)

    Decided on Kingston Plantation

Okay after researching for what seems like forever, changing my mind about 10 times, I%26#39;ve came to the conclusion that we will stay in the Brighton Tower at Kingston Plantation. I%26#39;m renting a 2BR condo from vrbo. We have never been there, never seen it and never stayed in Myrtle Beach before. So, please please tell me that I will be satisfied. It was a little more than I had planned on spending, but it seemed to be worth the price for what I saw. Even though I%26#39;ve already made my decision, I still would like some feedback on what we should expect when we get there. The condo looks really nice and I don%26#39;t have a lot of concerns about the room, itself. But would be interested in what everyone else thinks about making our choice to stay there.

Thanks... can%26#39;t wait till July now!

    Decided on Kingston Plantation

I dont think you will be disappointed. Kingston is a very nice property with alot to do. Some reveiws do complain about the distance to get to the beach, but Brighton Tower is right on the beach, and right next door to the Splash complex. You might want to check out the resort map at

    kingstonplantation.com/directions/property-m…

You wont be far from Barefoot Landing or Tanger Outlet. Have a great time! :)

    Decided on Kingston Plantation

We stayed at Brighton Towers last August. I thought it was a nice resort - my only complaint was how far it is from the health club but we went to lay on the beach and relax so it really wasn%26#39;t that big of a deal. Our balcony faced the splash park. Our condo was nice and I would stay in it again but not going until the beginning of August lots of people had been there before us and the walls needed a paint job but other than that i was very satisfied. The beach wasn%26#39;t near as crowded as other places we have stayed at Myrtle Beach. Our kids are college aged so we didn%26#39;t miss the lazy rivers, etc.

Enjoy your trip - sure wish we could go back this summer!!!

    North Myrtle Beach -- tradeable?

I%26#39;m looking at getting a timeshare in North Myrtle Beach and want to almost exclusively trade it. How is the tradeability of that area? The week is a floating week so hopefully that adds to its value.

I%26#39;m looking at a place at The Links Golf and Racquet Club...

    Thanks!

    North Myrtle Beach -- tradeable?

Fairfield Ocean Boulevard, Fairfield Sea Watch both have very high demand. Shore Crest Villas have done very well.

    North Myrtle Beach -- tradeable?

Have you been to the Links. My family and I will be traveling there in August. What can you tell me about the place.

booked at long bay, input on cleanliness, service, location!!!

I am staying at the long bay and am hoping to hear good things about its cleanliness. I have read many yucky reviews on other hotels and seen nasty pictures. I hope to hear from others that have stayed and thoughts on location and service too! I am just nervous as my vacation gets closer. Never been to Myrtle Beach and want it to go smoothly!

    Thanks for the input!!!

booked at long bay, input on cleanliness, service, location!!!

Its funny how when your vacation dates get closer you start worrying about making the wrong decision on where to stay, isnt it?

I think you will really enjoy the Long Bay. The area the property is located in is one of my personal favorite! The beach is nice and wide there, even at exteme high tides! Its a clean and very safe beach too. Not too far from a surf zone (if you like to do that, or would like to try!)

The property itself is probably less than 2 year old...I know that there has been some reviews about restricted views, so you may want to inquire on that if that%26#39;s important to you (there is a smaller building called the Savoy right in front of some of the rooms)That would be my only concern. Other than that, a few restaurants close by -- Martins, River City, Ultimate California Pizza -- beach front bars, be sure to check out St Clements, a great tourist/locals hangout. Your not far from grocery stores, some shopping and other great restaurants like Villa Mare, Liberty Tap Room and Grille, Collectors, Palms Bistro, City Bar, Cheeseburger in Paradise...almost too many to list!

Have a great time! And, quit worrying! :)

booked at long bay, input on cleanliness, service, location!!!

no cleanliness issues, BUT....I would find out exactly what room you will be in. They are adding on to the Ocean Reef (sister hotel just south of Long Bay) and if your room is oceanVIEW on the south side of the building, you will have a construction site for your view. I would address this before your stay. You may have to pay a little more to be oceanfront or on the north side, but if you wait, you may not be able to switch rooms.

Other than this, the Long Bay is a great choice.

thanks for your info about shipwatch pointe 1, are there any alternative roads to take in and out of this area? Also what is your opinion about Margaretville and the dueling piano bar at Broadway? thanks again

    thanks MBconcierge

You are more than welcome! Sorry to say that the 2 roads I mentioned are it....and, as long as you can be patient, and stay away from the heavier traffice times (especially the ';eary bird'; dining hour 4-6p) you%26#39;ll be ok.

I really like both Margaritaville and Crocodile Rocks! Both are really popular venues -- Margaritaville does allow young ones (under 21) because it is more of a restaurant than a bar, whereas Croc Rocks is a 21 plus admission. Both places really get jamming as the night goes on. Croc Rocks does have a cover charge, but stop in one of the hotels in the Shore Drive area (Sands Resort maybe) and ask at the concierge desk for any passes that they may have. Overwise I think the going cover is $10 ....but well worth it! And the food at Margaritaville isnt too bad.

If you need anything else...just let me know! Have a great time!

    :)

    Monteray Bay

How far is this resort from the attractions? Is there golf and activities nearby? Broadway? Barefoot? How about the pavillion and waves waterpark?

    Thank You!~

    Monteray Bay

I suggest you click on the ';Myrtle Beach Maps'; key. Monterey Bay is on Ocean Drive at 68th Ave. N (in the north end). More convenient to Barefoot Landing %26amp; the theatres than the other attractions.

    Monteray Bay

Monteray Bay is in an area that is known as the ';Avenues';...and I have to somewhat disagree with the above post. It is just as easy- and depending on the traffic backups at the ';bottleneck'; (where Kings Hwy and Bypass 17 merge)- can be alot easier getting to Broadway at the Beach than Barefoot Landing.

With that said the closest activities would be the Carolina Opry and Dixie Stampede (both great shows...the Opry is a must do, great variety and they have a wonderful 60%26#39;s 70%26#39;s show on Fridays called ';Good Vibrations';)

Golf nearby would be The Grande Dunes, Dunes Club, Waterway Hills, Pine Lakes, Myrtlewood (2 course there, Pine Hills and Palmetto), also the Members Club (at Grande Dunes) this is a great course, is private, but you can stop in at The Mariott and see the folks at the concierge desk or stop by the Marina at Grande Dunes concierge desk and they are able to book there. There%26#39;s also a great par 3 called CAne Patch just 3 blocks away from the hotel, great driving range too (and lighted!)

The Pavilion is a straight shot down Ocean Blvd...maybe 5 miles (catch the trolly out front of the hotel for a fun ride downtown...especially at night, that way you wont get stuck in the cruising traffic!) Broadway, Myrtle Waves and Nascar Speedpark are real easy to get to...down Ocean Blvd to 38th Ave N, turn right to Grissom (2nd light), turn left onto Grissom...this will take you right to Broadway (you%26#39;ll be on the Margaritaville/Ripleys Aquarium side), Nascar and Mytle Waves are on the other side just off 21st Ave N. Check out there website for site map

    www.broadwayatthebeach.com

another great website for attractions and maps:

    www.strandmagazine.com

Barefoot is easy to get to too...bar the traffice problem. Go North on Ocean Blvd...this will take you past the Mariott at 82nd Ave N...vere to your right. Merges on Kings Hwy (Business 17) you%26#39;ll pass Carolina Opry/Dixie...go approx 10 to 12 miles and Barefoot will be on the left. This property has 3 entrances.

Have a wonderful time! I think you will really enjoy the Monteray Bay! I love the fact that they include a ';real'; breakfast AND a PM dessert buffet in the price of the room! Tell Benji I said hello!

Going to Hilton Head with my dogs

We are going to Hilton Head with our dogs this weekend. From what I understand, they are allowed off-leash on the beach as long as you can have voice control. What other things can we do with our dogs while there? I read there is a dog park, but there was no address. Thanks!!

Going to Hilton Head with my dogs

A dog friendly restaurant is The Market Street Cafe in Coligny Plaza. You can sit outside on the patio with your dogs. The food is American/Mediterrean, very reasonable, casual and very friendly service. They even have dog bowls and treats for the dogs!

Le Grande Cirque at Palace Theratre

Hi there, has anyone been to see the Le Grande Cirque show? I am interested in going and I was wondering if anyone had any comments about it.

Le Grande Cirque at Palace Theratre

my mother went with a club she belongs to in surfside. And they all really liked it.

I will be in Myrtle on the 39th of July thru the 6th of August, and will be going to the show on the 1st, hope it is good, there are 11 of us going.

I went to the Palace and saw the show in June and it was very good. However, it is nowhere near as spectacular as a Cirque de soleil show in Las Vegas. The show includes some human contortionists, weird illusions, animal tricks, awesome acrobatics, and a final stunt at the end. There is also some audience interaction. Enjoy your stay at Myrtle Beach and the Le Grande Cirque show.

Thank you all. I still have not decided if we should go, and spend our money somewhere else. I just don%26#39;t know where else to spend it!

We are considering going too. We are planning well in advance and have the option to pick the front row seats. Can anyone advise us if you can see the entire show from the front seats? Or would it be more enjoyable to be farther back?

I saw the show last summer, from the 3rd row--very close. I would recommend seating just a bit farther away. I wouldn%26#39;t recommend the first row.

Thank you so much for this info. We will take your advice.

    wedding location

Having a small wedding (just 2 of us). Looking for locations to get married under a big tree or some where nice other than the beach which doesn%26#39;t require you to be staying at a resort or hotel.

    Suggestions?

    wedding location

Try Oldfield River House, it is a old manison from the 1700%26#39;s, the back law has a huge tree in the middle of it and then beyond the tree is the water. They may require that you ';rent'; the lawn space, but it is beautifule there. It isn%26#39;t loctated in Hilton Head, its right off the island in Beaufort.

North Myrtle Beach for 25 people with kids -- getting...

Hope you can help! We used to live in NMB and are now returning to marry -- but need accomodations for 25 including children -- want pools, water stuff (in and out it%26#39;s Oct) onsite restaurant and CLEAN! Thank you!

North Myrtle Beach for 25 people with kids -- getting...

The onsite restaurant is very limiting in North Myrtle. I recommend Crescent Shores as the four bedroom units have 2 bedrooms each with two queen beds and 2 bedrooms with king size beds. They also have an indoor pool.

There was a restaurant right next door also on the beach-it was being renovated in May 2005 when I was there. I%26#39;m not sure what type of food they serve. The building is at 17th ave south and south ocean blvd. You can see pictures of the setting at my website. The address is www.vrbo.com/63176

North Myrtle Beach for 25 people with kids -- getting...

There%26#39;s a quick food place beside the Beachwear store and an arcade and minature golf across the road behind the parking deck. Crescent Shore is one of the nicest condo resorts in the area. http://www.vrbo.com/81119 Avista, Ashworth, Sea Watch and Fairfield Ocean Blvd. are also very nice.

We are staying at the Avista resort- have not been yet, but there is an onsite restaurant, and a ballroom for sure, that I know of. All of the reviews on this place have been awesome. Good Luck!

    10 year anniversary?

Which inn would you pick harbour view inn or

French quarter inn? trying to decide between these two 3 nights in october......

    10 year anniversary?

Narrowed it down to harbour view inn, french quarter inn, or vendue inn where would you stay? Please help...........

    10 year anniversary?

While all 3 are nice, my pick would be for the Harbour View Inn. Enjoy your visit!

The HarbourView Inn and the French Quarter are both very nice places to stay. If it were my choice I would stay at the HarourView Inn and I would pick a room with a view of the water. The rooms there are really spectacular!

booked harbour view inn penthouse suite now I need a restraunt for 10 year anniversary? Great food, romantic not stuffy or to fancy maybe some music any suggestions?

    Excellent choice!

Not sure what kind of budget you have for dining but here%26#39;s a few of the places in town that come to mind for romantic as well as special occassion places:

Circa 1886 (www.circa1886.com) on Wentworth St at the Wentworth Mansion.

Carolina%26#39;s (www.carolinasrestaurant.com) on Exchange Street. Request the Perdita’s Room...it%26#39;s more intimate.

Robert%26#39;s (www.robertsofcharleston.com) on East Bay. They have 1 seating and the chef also sings for the guests. Food Network called it ';the most romantic restaurant';...for what that%26#39;s worth.

The Peninsula Grill (www.peninsulagrill.com) on Market St at corner of Meeting Street at the Planters Inn.

    Happy Anniversary!
